The Bluebirds held out for a 0-0 draw at the Madejski Stadium on Friday and are poised for an all-Wales playoff final after Swansea booked their place with a 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Monday. But, Cardiff’s end-of-season form saw them slip from automatic promotion candidates to finish the regular season on fourth place and need to win for the first time in four games to set up a spectacular playoff final.
FORM GUIDE
Cardiff and Reading have played out a draw each time they’ve met this season and with neither side making full use of its potent attacking threat in recent games, it would be no surprise if this went to a penalty decider.
Cardiff edge favouritism by virtue of a resolute performance at the Madejski Stadium on Friday and home advantage on Tuesday. Reading, however have shown they can upset the odds away from home; the Royals are unbeaten in their last eight league games on the road and went to Everton and West Brom to earn wins in the FA Cup earlier in the year.
