Arsenal Can Clinch Carling Cup Success

Arsene Wenger young Arsenal side are confidently expected to brush aside Birmingham City at Wembley Stadium tomorrow and claim their first silverware in six years . Arsenal haven't won a trophy since winning the FA Cup in 2005 but should have far too much skill and goal threat for Birmingham despite a number of key injuries .

Arsenal are currently in great form and are unbeaten in their last eleven games in all competitions with their Champions League first leg success against Barcelona ranking as one of their best results under Arsene Wenger . Arsenal still have the chance of winning 4 trophies this season and the Gunners are possible entering a new era of consistent success . Whilst Wenger will have to do without the inspirational Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott for Sunday's Final he should have Robin Van Persie , Laurent Koscielny and Abou Diaby fit to play with Van Persie set to captain his team .

Wenger is looking for success in the Carling Cup to give his team a lift for the remainder of the season and said today "Because people are so much after us about trophies, we want to win one, but mainly because to win it would give us a lift." The Gunners boss continued "Winning the Carling Cup will be like beating Chelsea, Barcelona another step forward ."

Since beating Man Utd in the FA Cup Final in 2005 , Arsenal have lost two Finals , the Champions League Final to Barcelona in 2006 and the Carling Cup Final to Chelsea in 2007 . Amazingly this will be Arsenal's first Wembley Final since 1998 but it is 48 years since Birmingham won their last major Trophy ,  the FA Cup way back in 1963 when thet beat local rivals Aston Villa .

Birmingham have not managed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine League Cup matches , conceeding 13 goals and it is difficult to envisage any result other than an Arenal victory . Samir Nasri could well be the danger man for the Gunners and the Frenchman has already notched twice in this season's Carling Cup run . Three of the last six League Cup Final's have gone to extra time but Arsenal are confidently expected to win in 90 minutes .
